26.10.2023 - Shiva's Fast. Guru Pradosh Vrat

Guru Pradosh: This Pradosh falls on Thursday and is associated with the planet Jupiter, which is also revered as a guru. The advantages of fasting on this day are: success in all spheres of life, good health, abundance, wisdom and spiritual growth.

It is observed by adherents of Shaivism on the 13th lunar day on the waning and growing Moon (twice a month).
That day, at the time of sunset of which the 13th lunar day falls, is considered a day of fasting.
And, since in this case there is a binding to the sunset times, it is important to understand that these may be different days for different cities.

It is believed that those who fast at this time receive the favor of # Shiva (who gave the teachings of yoga to humanity) and his wife, # Parvati (as well as his entire family and tamed animals), and he contributes to deepening knowledge and enhancing the effect of yogic and tantric practices and rituals.

Yogins who observe this fast can achieve Moksha (enlightenment, liberation from the burden of subsequent rebirths) and receive forgiveness for their transgressions and atonement for sins.

Also in some scriptures it is said that on this lunar day Shiva cleanses the Earth and people from negative karma.

"Pradosh" means getting rid of dosha (dosha = problem/defect acquired as a result of sinful actions in the past).

The most significant post of #Pradosh is considered to be #Mahapradosh, preceding Shivaratri (in February-March), as well as Shani Pradosh, Soma Pradosh and Bhumi Pradosh. Posts these days will lead to more serious transformations.
