Mysterious tree of Crater lake

For 450 years, a mysterious tree trunk has been floating upright in Crater Lake (USA, Oregon), which has practically not changed during this time.

This strange log, which for some reason cannot drown or rot, is nine meters long, 60 centimeters in diameter and rises 1.2 meters above the water. It always stands upright like a float and moves along the lake.

"This log can be said to travel on the lake. Once, when I specifically watched it, it moved 100 kilometers in three months. Sometimes it can move 6 kilometers a day," wrote naturalist John Doerr.

Why the log does not sink, does not rot and always stands vertically in the water, no one knows. The name of the tree from which this unique fin was derived is not reported.

Lake Crater is one of the ten deepest freshwater bodies in the world, reaching a depth of 594 meters. The Ostankino TV tower can drown in it.
