The most "green" island.

Egg Island, an island in Scotland in the Inner Hebrides archipelago, is considered the greenest not only for its pristine wilderness.
The tiny island north of the country's west coast boasts a wide range of sustainable strategies, as depending on weather conditions, the island can receive up to 90% of its energy from renewable sources.

Solar panels, wind turbines and hydroelectric power plants are installed throughout the island, catering to the needs of almost all of its inhabitants. The structure of the power grid, each meter of which cost about $ 2.64, was created in 2008 with funding from the European Union and the support of civil society organizations.

“You start to think differently about rain,” explains Eddie Scott, a member of the Eigg Electric service team, pointing to a masterpiece of engineering, an energy storage and storage facility located in the center of the island. The rain helps power the hydro generators installed along streams and rivers.
