The teaching is transmitted on three levels

Verbal transmission

Here, the Teacher gives clear verbal instructions regarding the methods or key points of the Teaching, so that the student does not have any logical contradictions. Intelligent explanations are addressed to the ordinary superficial consciousness that acts in our ordinary state (jagrat).

Symbolic transmission

In a symbolic transmission, the Teacher, describing the nature of Being or vision, uses the special twilight language of tantra (sandhya bhashya), metaphors and symbols. Symbolic transmission is addressed to the subconscious, i.e. the intuitive thinking of the subtle body that acts in dreams. For example, Teacher can show a jug and a pile of clay, alluding to the “uniform taste” of all phenomena and their inseparability from the primary foundation. Or he can explain the natural state as “eagle soaring”, the principle of integration with the words “flow along with the river”, and the principle of abandonment “as it is” saying that “the grass will grow itself”. Or he can put a crystal vessel on a white, blue, red fabric, explaining the principle of purity and spotlessness of the natural state.

Fictional transmission

Here the Master hints at the inexpressible, insane, absurd for the logical mind nature of nondual Being. He is silent, shouts, or speaks in absurd puzzles, behaves in an unusual way, creating situations of awakening in the student, when his usual vision of the world collapses, and he opens up to the great power of the Clear Light. Or he allows the student to come in contact with the strong energy of this world, which stops for a while the flow of his dualistic thinking, shocking, captivating him and exposing the pure state of “not-I”.

The unsigned transmission is intended for superconsciousness, which manifests itself in moments of deepest clarity, in a dream without dreams or in samadhi.
